Christopher Nolan’s period thriller about two rival magicians combines science and the surreal. In Victorian London, two friends – Robert Angier and Alfred Borden – seek a livelihood as famous magicians. But when an onstage incident causes the drowning of Angier’s wife, the two fall out and begin a bitter rivalry. Soon, the two spend their lives trying to outdo one another, uncaring of the consequences to those around them.
