تدور القصة حول حياة إرين ييغر وأخته المتبناة ميكاسا أكرمان وصديقهما ارمين أرليرت الذين يعيشون في عالم حيث يسكن بقية الجنس البشري داخل مدن محاطة بأسوار ضخمة بسبب الظهور المفاجئ للعمالقة وهي مخلوقات ضخمة تقوم بالتهام البشر بلا سبب, تتغير حياتهم بعد ظهور عملاق هائل وجلبه للدمار إلى موطنهم.
